In order to accomplish the objectives for which the African Union Sports Council Region 2 was created and also to effectively carry out the functions and responsibilities of the office, AUSC Region 2 signed an Agreement with the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
This Agreement grants the Secretariat of AUSC Region 2, diplomatic status, privileges, immunities and exemptions.
It was signed at the Conference Hall of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday 26th November, 2019. The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mustapha Suleiman, signed on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria, while Mr. Adesola Olusade, the then Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development of Nigeria and Chairperson, AUSC Region 2 Committee of Experts, signed in behalf of the African Union Sports Council Region 2, for the AUSC Region 2 President-in-Office, Hon. Sunday Akin Dare.
