It is no news that many countries and communities all over the world are enduring several weeks of social and economic restrictions as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Nigeria, unfortunately confirmed its first case on 27th February 2020 and since then, the number of confirmed cases has risen.
AUSC Region 2 member countries are not spared in this unfortunate global pandemic.
However, evidence from several countries is giving us a clearer picture about this virus, what it is capable of, how it spreads, how to treat it and how to prevent it.
As individuals, we can successfully fight this virus. The best and most effective way to avoid getting infected is through regular hygienic and sanitary practices as well as social distancing. Washing our hands regularly with clean running water and soap, disinfect frequently used surfaces and areas including cellphones and door handles, coughing into a tissue paper or elbow and strictly adhering to Infection Prevention Control measures, we can combat and contain this virus.
In view of the on-going, we regret to announce that our AUSC Region 2 program of activities for the year 2020 is now suspended till further notice.
Most of our member countries have introduced response measures that includes not only strict social distancing, but also travel restrictions and the Ministers of Sports complimented the efforts of the government by postponing all sports activities of the Region.
It is our strong believe that we CAN and WILL overcome this challenge together.
